Freedom Fighter Them Music

This album right here man..... all I can say is listen and see for yourself. By the end of the album you'll be organizing your friends to plot a coup.

Here are two tracks that I've been listening to a lot lately:

"Stand Up" - Flobots

"There Is A War Going On For Your Mind" - Flobots

Justice For Trayvon: The Atlanta Rally For Justice

I'm still on a spiritual high from yesterday's rally at the Atlanta Capitol Building. Looking around and seeing all the faces of people who were fed up and ready to shake things up inspired me to no end. What really got me was when I saw a kid with a hoodie holding a sign that said "Am I Next" and in that moment I pictured my nephews and what society things of them. I though about how they love walking around the neighborhood and how it's nothing for them to get up throw on a hoodie and walk to the store for some candy and tea. I thought about all things and prejudices they will face growing up in a society that devalues them. Digesting it all brought tears to my eyes.

I was also inspired by the diversity within the crowd. It was definitely a majority of black people but there were white people, Latino people, and other people from various walks of life who were genuinely angered by the blatant injustice of the whole situation. Throughout the night the presence of the Lord was definitely there. When the entire crowed bowed there heads to sing and pray I began to cry again. God's presence was heavy.

Overall I think it was successful in uniting the people behind a common cause and helping others see what we've been seeing all our lives. I feel that this case is definitely a "Rosa Parks" situation for our generation, the spark that exposes the problem that America has swept under the rug for so long. I just hope that it doesn't stop here, we have to prepare ourselves for the long haul.

Although I look terrible in this pic, you can definitely tell how angry I was. This was after I had my whole revelation about the case.

Hunger Games Fever

This book has consumed my life for the past two days. I've been so engrossed with it, only putting it down for non-important stuff like classes and meetings lol. I can't wait to see the movie and read the rest of the books. I've caught the fever!

On Repeat: Fun. - "Some Nights"

When I heard this song it screamed Kanye, especially the end of the song. Then I learned that Fun. worked with Kanye's producer on their album, I knew it! These ears of mine are always in the know.

Nobody's Perfect

Why have I never seen this video. Missy looks great in, I miss she. I used to hate when people called me Missy Elliot back in the day, even though I loved her so. I hope she decided to put out another album soon.

March 3rd

like a tree deeply rooted with it's leafless arms
streatching towards the heavens underneath
a weeping sky,
so will I praise You; even when
life rains down on me and
the lightening strikes, threatening to
destroy me, yet will I praise the Lord

raindrops/when love dries

we fell in love on
a window pane, became one
then faded away

Count Your Blessings

Are you ever burdened with a load of care?

Does the cross seem heavy you are called to bear?

Count your many blessings, every doubt will fly,

And you will be singing as the days go by.

Who Are You To End A War?

I'm here to tell you, who are you not to...
If you haven't heard about the Stop Kony campaign press play. I have a lot of feelings about this campaign but at the end of the day awareness is awareness, so again hit play and be enlightened. If only about child rebel soldiers. * But don't stop there seek out the information on your own, don't let your awareness or your actions stop at this 30 minute video. Also make sure that you always, always, ALWAYS question where you get your information from and the organization that giving it to you. ALWAYS!!!!

Life: SGA Debates & Obama Rally

My friend is such a paparazzi.
My friend, Michael Eric Dyson, & I.

Janelle Monae & Keshia Knight Pulliam were also on the panel.
me & my paparazzi friend, they say the only way to beat 'em is to join 'em sooooo...
A while back we had to decide rather to go to the Obama rally at Clark or the Spelman SGA debates, we decided to go to both. Honestly I only went to the rally to see my girl Janelle Monae, who I still have yet to get a picture with. I've seen her twice and have no proof of it, I still in my emotions about it. She dipped so fast but Dyson and Pulliam stayed for a while and took pictures with the crowd. Overall it was a great experience. The SGA debates was the usual coonery that it always is. As the year comes to a close every event I go to with my friends is bittersweet. I'm really gonn miss the good ol' AUC.

Really, Where Does The Time Go?

Last week we had to take Senior pictures, I still can't believe that I'm about to be a College graduate.
waiting in line, dreaming of London.
more waiting, excuse the chipped nails.
ready but there was still more waiting to be done, grrrrr.
All in all we waited for about three & half hours can you tell how tired I looked? My friend kept trying take pictures & what not but I wasn't having any of that I was tired and ret to go. I can't believe we're taking senior pics it feels like we were just in freshman orientation, how the time flies.

How do you do that? Why do you do that?

"He (Michael) would always come into the studio curious about how I worked and what I did. ‘How do you do that? Why do you do that?’ I think he understood clearly from seeing various people do the music scene that it definitely took work. He must have been around 9 or 10 then, and I definitely felt that he would be someone. You hear the voice, and all he could do is grow. And that’s what he did."

Quote Of The Day

"Live so that when your children think of fairness and integrity, they think of you."

- H. Jackson Brown, Jr.

(Heard this quote on a creepy episode of Criminal Minds last night & I think it speaks volumes for people of all ages. Definitely something to live by. Color me inspired.)

You're Like A Wildfire

SBTRKT - Wildfire
I can't get enough of this song. Oh & if you're wondering it's pronounced as "subtract."
