Don't waste your life chasing mirages.
When you're lost in the desert,
alone and thirsty,
it's easy to make assumptions based on feelings,
based on desires.
It's easy to see something that's not really there.
You want it to be there, you need to be there.
Oh you know it's there.
You see it from a distance,
clear and blue.
It has all the promises of quenching your thirst.
But as you continue to walk closer,
it get's further and further away.
ever illusive.
You suddenly approach it or so it seems,
you bend down to grasp and look down in horror
at the sand passing through your finger,
along with all your hopes and dreams.
You curse yourself for falling for it again, but yet
you get up dust yourself off and continue
to wonder the desert,
alone and thirsty chasing yet another mirage.
When will you learn?
When will I learn?
When we learn?
On the last and greatest day of the festival, Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink. 38 Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” - John 7: 37-38
